Acupuncture for Weight loss

It’s that time of the year when New Years resolutions are made and broken. Weight loss is the number one New Years resolution for people to make. Eating better, get back to the gym and shed those holiday pounds. Canadians spend billions of dollars every year on weight loss programs, pills and the new fad diets to shed those excess pounds. It’s no surprise that 95% of those who attempt to lose weight fail. This year commit to getting and maintaining health rather then merely looking at the numbers on the scale.

In achieving the healthy body weight and overall wellness acupuncture can help.  Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points into the body. These activate and stimulate the body to release endorphins, the bodies natural “feel good hormone”.  This creates a natural calming, relaxing effect which can counteract the need for excess eating brought on by stress or anxiety.

Several studies have shown that when acupuncture is combine with a proper diet and exercise program, patients lose more weight.  In these cases, 1-4 acupuncture weight loss  session can be safe and effective in helping people achieve reasonable weight loss goals.

Auricular acupuncture (ear acupuncture), has also been shown to help people achieve their weight loss goals. Auricular acupuncture has been used successfully to help cigarette smokers and heroin addicts kick their drug habits. When properly administered by a qualified acupuncturist, this technique can help people lose weight in combination with other weight loss modalities.

IMG_4778.PNGIn Traditional Chinese Medicine excess weight gains are caused by imbalances in the bodies systems. Acupuncture addresses these imbalances.  Acupuncture can help balance the endocrine systems, water retention, aid in balancing the thyroid glad and hormone levels, help balance your blood sugar and insulin levels,  and reduce stress and aid in adrenal function, which all add to weight gain if out of balance.

Acupuncture can aid in your weight loss goals and help you achieve not only the loss of those excess pounds but will help you to achieve optimal wellness for 2016!
